Aptitude refers to things you are naturally good at.
You might not like these talents, or actively pursue them, they just come naturally to you. Aptitude has little to do with knowledge, culture, education, or even your interests. They are inbuilt.
Research has shown that a person’s aptitudes stabilise at around age fourteen, and remain so for the rest of their life.
Aptitude tests and strength finders are often used by employers to determine whether you will be a good fit for their team. These tests measure our innate abilities, tendencies and core strengths.
Why is it important to understand our aptitudes?
An aptitude is our inborn physical or mental potential to do certain kinds of work. We cannot change our aptitudes, they are built in to our foundation and influence everything else that comes after. The innate nature of aptitude is in contrast to a learned skill or achievement.
Think of your natural aptitudes as the foundation of your Creative Superpower.
