What business model can Creatives use?

There is an overload of information freely available on the internet, but this usually results in overwhelm for the average learner.

The success of the knowledge economy relies on specialists bringing order and organisation to a topic.

For those creatives who can master online business models, there are a raft of new careers available as knowledge brokers.

The author model

Let’s take the business model most non-fiction authors use as an example.

The content in a non-fiction book is usually structured in such a way as to take the audience on a transformational journey.

This process of transformation follows a signature framework developed by the author.

The content might be broken into sections or chapters and use activities to help put knowledge into action.

When it comes to developing a range of products, the author’s signature framework never changes but the delivery methods become tailored to suit different audiences.

For example, many people will read blog posts on the authors website which cover snippets of content from their book. For most of the audience, this might be valuable enough and they move on.

Some people however, will want to engage with the information on a deeper level. They can be encouraged to sign up with an email address in order to gain access to a worksheet for example. Some of this…
