What lights you up?

‘Passion projects are about fostering your well-being by doing something that lights you up’ – Pam Bauer

Passion does not always guarantee we are good at something, simply that we enjoy it.

Passionate cooks or singers aren’t always great cooks or singers, but you can guarantee that all great cooks and singers have passion.

Passion is an emotional signpost which tells us we have renewable energy for a particular activity, and enthusiasm is a valuable resource. This energy ‘lights us up’ and so we find it easier to become absorbed in a particular activity. Look closely at what lights you up, even if you aren’t very good at it … yet. By identifying what you have a passion for, you can use your Creative Superpower to ignite this passion in others.

Why is it important to understand our passions?

Passions are strong, barely controllable emotions. We think of passion in love, but people are also passionate about their work, their mission, their goals and dreams.

Think of your passion as the fuel of your Creative Superpower.

Passion projects are widely understood to be those projects we do for love and enjoyment, rather than monetary gain. There may well be monetary reward for passion projects, but the name implies that love rather than money is the driving factor.
